Your Life Path comes from your birth date. Four other common numbers come from your name, or from your name and date together. They describe different layers of the same person.
Which name to use
Traditional numerology uses the full name on your birth certificate. Some people also check the name they use every day and compare. If the two give different numbers, that difference can be worth noticing. People who changed their name often recognize something in both.
Expression number
Add the values of every letter in your full name and reduce. Letters run 1 through 9: A is 1, B is 2, and so on, starting over at J.
Expression describes how you tend to use your skills. A 3 often works through words and ideas. An 8 often works through structure, money and authority.
Soul Urge number
Add only the vowels. Soul Urge describes what you want underneath the visible goals. Someone with a Soul Urge 7 might have a busy public life and still crave hours alone with a hard question.
Personality number
Add only the consonants. Personality describes the first impression you give before people know you. It often lines up with how strangers describe you and doesn't always match how you feel inside.
Maturity number
Add your Life Path and Expression numbers and reduce. Maturity is read as a theme that tends to get louder later in adult life, once the early pressures settle.
Why they can disagree
It's common to have a Personality number that reads calm and a Soul Urge that reads restless. That gap is often the most recognizable part. It describes the distance between how you come across and what's driving you.
Limits
Different systems handle Y and Master Numbers differently. Results also depend on spelling. Use these numbers as prompts to check against your life, not as a final word.
Try it
The free Life Current numerology tool calculates these numbers from your name and date. The Gem Assessment focuses on Life Path and Karmic Debt alongside your chart, and the sample dossier shows how numbers are written into patterns.
